dc.description.abstract | Parents and families are the primary educators of their children.
The particular quality of this training make them feel the need
to getting them into school, besides having the legal obligation
to do so according to the laws in force, not only in our country,
but also recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights, whose Article 26 states that every person has the right
to education.
Thus, the School becomes an inseparable part of the family,
enabling them to develop this pedagogical task, which they must
carry out together for the benefit of the children. This union
should be as effective as possible, and, in this sense, this article
describes what is meant by participation, the different forms of
participation and the way in which this family-school relationship
is the best guarantee for personal and school success.
The article is a compilation of different theories about
participation and, specifically, about the features to describe
educational participation. It is essential to take the different
members of the Education Community into account, but also
to acknowledge that all of them are important actors and how
they play this role.
More precisely, this study focuses on the school-family
relationship. Educational success is a direct consequence of
the family involvement in their children education process. This
statement is supported by different studies that highlight that
this participation is not easy. Among the reasons to explain this
difficulty we can point out the lack of training and time, not
only when we refer to families but also to teachers, who find it
difficult to optimize this relationship so that they become allies.
This essay contains a number of proposals that favor a really
constructive relationship between family and school, based on
trust and communication among the agents involved, creating
the necessary channels to achieve it and ensuring that the
family-school relationship is genuine, because children benefit
most from its success. | es |
